What is My Data Sets?
My Data Sets is a feature that empowers users to create custom data sets instantly, enabling them to generate user-specific reports with ease. This functionality allows for seamless sharing of tailored reports, simplifying access to essential information as needed.
Using My Data Sets, users can efficiently integrate Ad Hoc or Supplemental reports, significantly reducing the time spent on report generation and enhancing the agility of data collection and retrieval. Examples of applications for My Data Sets include offline data uploads, budget tracking, tradeshow reporting, and planning data details.
Steps to Upload a Custom Data Set into MSIGHTS Reporting
Step 1: Access My Data Sets Upload Interface
Open the Left Panel and scroll down to find Data Workbench.
Click on My Data Sets to open the upload pop-up interface.
Step 2: Initiate the Upload Process
In the top-right corner of the pop-up, click the New Data Source button to start creating a new custom data set.
Step 3: Execute the Upload
Name your custom data set.
Select the file you wish to upload. Supported file types include .txt, .csv, .xls, and .xlsx.
Step 4: Review and Configure My Data Set Fields
Once uploaded, you can preview the data set.
In Field Settings, customize the data label used in reporting, and specify if each column is a Metric or an Attribute. Set the data format accordingly.
If a column is designated as an Attribute, you can set it as filter criteria for easier data segmentation.
In Date Attribute, select the column representing date values, or choose a custom result date via the calendar icon if no date values are present. This step is crucial, as it enables the data set to incorporate a date attribute, allowing reports to include specific timeframes when pulling and analyzing data.
Step 5: Save the Upload
Click Upload to finalize. Your custom data set will now be available within the Reporting interface.

Create Any Widget:
Begin by creating a widget in reporting.
Select the newly created custom data set:
Choose the custom data set via the name-defined
Configure the widget:
Configure the attribute and metrics intended to display
Review the Result:
Analyse the widget to view the results of the custom data set
Additional Tips When Creating My Data Sets
Creating custom reports using My Data Sets offers enhanced flexibility and control. However, several key rules and exceptions apply to help maintain data integrity and consistency:
My Data Set Rules and Exceptions
Update, Editing, and Removal: Only the original creator of a My Data Sets can update, edit, or delete it. This restriction helps preserve consistent and reliable metric configurations.
Access: The My Data Sets feature is available exclusively to certain users, including internal Client Engagement members and select Client Admins. Restricted access ensures data integrity and control over custom data sets.
Widget Editing: Any widgets utilizing a My Data Set can only be edited by the data set’s creator, helping to maintain custom configurations without external modifications.
