In this article, you will learn how to add or edit multiple lines of data to a grid section on the platform (for example, on URL Builder or Media Planner) using the Mass Input function.

Summary

The Mass Input feature enables users to perform bulk operations on grid data. This includes duplicating rows, simultaneously adding or editing multiple data lines, and importing data from a file to populate a table with pre-defined information based on a template file.

The Mass Input function provides the following capabilities:

  • Row Duplication: Create copies of existing rows.

  • Multiple Row Addition/Editing: Add and modify multiple rows simultaneously.

  • File Import: Populate grid data from an external file.

Benefits

The primary benefit of Mass Input is the acceleration of data entry for large volumes of information. Instead of individual line-by-line edits or additions, this function facilitates the streamlined management of multiple rows.

How to access the Mass Input function

The Mass Input button becomes accessible within any grid interface after one or more rows are selected via their corresponding checkboxes.

Accessing the Mass Input Function

  1. Select Rows: Within any grid interface, select one or more rows by checking the corresponding checkboxes.

  2. Access Mass Input window: The "Mass Input" button will become enabled. Click it to open the Mass Input pop-up window, which displays the selected rows.

There are 3 main Mass Input functionalities:

  1. Duplicate an existing row

  2. Adding multiple new rows

  3. Uploading an existing file

Duplicating an existing row

Users can duplicate lines using the double squares button on the Mass Input pop-up window. It is important to highlight that only non-locked fields will be duplicated.

  • Action: In the Mass Input pop-up window, click the "Duplicate" button (represented by double squares).

  • Note: Only non-locked fields in the selected rows will be duplicated. Locked fields will remain unchanged

Adding multiple new rows

Users can choose how many new rows are necessary and add them using the "Add" text box on the bottom left of the widget. To do so, just type the number of lines you want and press Enter on the keyboard. The new lines will be added and ready for editing.

After adding the desired number of rows, users can fill up the cells manually. Information can be copied from one cell to another using Ctrl+C Ctrl+V or by clicking and dragging the bottom-right corner of the cell.

Uploading an existing file

Users can choose to work offline and import the file to the platform after all the required editing. To do so, use the "Import from file" link on the bottom left of the pop-up window.

A new window will open with the following options:

  • View Requirements: Here, users can visualize the required name and data format of each column.

  • Download Loader: Here, users can download a file with the column names the same way as the original grid. The file will be a CSV format that can be edited and later imported.

  • Upload file: Here, users can select the file to be uploaded. Ideally, it is based on the downloaded file from the Download Loader.

Validating Data Input

The Validate button, located at the top of the window, must be clicked to validate the final table before saving. This should only be done after all necessary edits are complete. Any rows with missing or incorrectly formatted data will be flagged with an alert sign on the left (), and the invalid cell will have a red background. The "Save" button will be inactive until all errors are corrected. Invalid cells can be manually corrected, or the row can be disregarded by clicking the crossed-out symbol () next to the error flag. Any rows disregarded in this way will not be included in the new dataset when saving.
