How do I add a new custom classification in Media Planner?

In this article, you'll learn how to add a a new custom classification in Media Planner.

My Classifications is a MSIGHTS self-service feature for user admins to create their own classification fields on their own. Here's an overview of the features:

  • My Classifications feature is available in Media Planner and Creative Details. For more information about My Classifications in Creative Details, please refer to How do I add a new custom classification in Creative Details?

  • Classifications can be created at different levels of the digital marketing hierarchy: Marketing Campaigns, Media Plans, Media Placements, or Media Weight Allocations

  • Once a new classification has been added, it will also be available in Reporting.

  • After it's a new classification is added, it's viewable by all users.


Note: Currently, you are not able to delete a ‘My Classification’ so be careful when adding before a fix is implemented


How do I add a new custom classification in Media Planner?

  1. When you're in Media Planner, move your mouse to the top right corner of the screen and click the "Manage My Classification" icon.

  2. When the "Manage my Classifications" menu opens, click on "New Classification Field" button.

  3. Give your new classification a name in the field label and select the classification type.

  4. Once a new classification has been added, you'll may need to add the values associated with the new classification.

  5. From the Left Navigation Panel, open the Field List section, then open the Client Classifications subsection. Find and click on your newly created classification.

  6. Once you're in the classification field list, go to the top right corner, find and click the plus icon to add a new value.

  7. Enter the desire values and select whether you consider the row item to be considered to be normalized when the value is applied.

  8. Once you're done adding new values, you're ready to use your newly created custom classification in your Media Planner widgets.
