In this article, we will explain how to configure a Score and "Scoring Metrics".

First, we need to understand the difference between a single “Score Metric” and “Scoring Metrics”.

Score Metrics

Scoring Metrics

Definition

Individual metrics, by Market and Tactic (i.e. Paid Search Performance Score - BTP Japan)

Group tactic metrics that contain several individual metric calculations (i.e. Paid Search Performance Score).

Characteristics

  • simplistic and individual approach

  • Score Metrics don't average in the Grand Totals.

  • broad approach

  • Scoring metrics do average based on the results of the widget

  • Each single score metric will be shown in the scoring metrics

  • Scoring metrics will work with any attributes available in MSIGHTS Reporting.

The 'Scoring Metrics' feature enables users to configure a single “Score Metric” with unique filter criteria, as well as a “Score Metric” composed of several “Scoring Metrics” using various filter criteria. For instance, when evaluating all "Search Ads" data, users may opt to create an aggregated "Search Ads Score" metric, which incorporates multiple scoring metrics at a more granular level.

Consider a situation where your Search Ads KPIs are CTR % and Conversion Rate. However, you may have a different KPI goal depending on the keyword type used - BRAND versus NON-BRAND keywords. The Conversion Rate goal for NON-BRAND keywords may maybe higher than the Conversion Rate goal for BRAND. In this scenario, you will create 1 Search Ads Score Metric and configure 2 Scoring metrics to filter for the Keyword Brand Type. Then you will be able to define different CTR and Conversion Rate goals per keyword type.

Step-by-Step Guide to Configure a Score

1. To configure a score, you will need admin access. In case you do not have admin access, please reach out to MSIGHTS Support.

2. Click on the Left Panel and go to the bottom of the menu, under 'Data Workbench:'

3. Click on 'Scoring:'

4. Click on 'New score:'

4. Enter 'Score Name' and apply the Filter criteria of your new scoring metric.

Filters allow you to narrow down to the relevant data for the new Score to be calculated. All filtering attribute values are limited based on the order of the filters selected. Selected filter values will be fixed in all Score Metrics within said Score. Filters left empty must be defined in each Score Metric in the Score.

5. Select the max value of the metric score.

This will be the maximum value your score can reach
Friendly reminder that the maximum combined score can be no larger than 10

6. Select 'add metric' and click on the dropdown button to select the desired metric.

The score is calculated based on the Metrics selected. Each Metric can have a maximum value and the sum of all max values should add up to the Max Metric Score of 10. Metric score configuration is done for each selected Score Metric within the Score.
